We are allotted ten aircraft to cover up to five storm missions per
day, anywhere from the mid-Atlantic to Hawaii. We've been using the
C-130 Hercules since 1965, a very sturdy turboprop plane. It's not
beefed up in any way, only the special weather equipment makes the
WC-130 different from the cargo version of this workhorse.
